The Bible: What to know before reading the Bible

October 30, 2009

A Middle Eastern man pleaded guilty to charges that he was responsible for a string of bombings that killed 30 people and wounded 213 others from 1991 to 2000. He was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment in June 2002. For the next 6 years he was imprisoned on an Island and held under harsh conditions with other fundamentalists.

Knowing his life would soon be terminated he restored to studying the bible that was put by his bed side. He counted the number of chapters and verses. He took note of the shortest and longest chapters and verses. He realized that the bible was authored by forty people out of which only one is a gentile. He observed that the bible was written from three continents namely Africa, Asia, and Europe. He also learnt that it is the most translated book ever.

The gentleman wrote much of his Bible knowledge secretly in prison. The manuscript was smuggled out and was eventually completed and published in 2008. Later, he was moved to the maximum-security Prison on another Island where he was executed.

The message of the Bible

The bible is an exposition of the Ten Commandments and the Ten Commandments are an explanation of HOW TO “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind and Love your neighbor as you love yourself”. The bible therefore, is based on one word “Love”.

Literary, the words of the bible portray how much God loves us and how we ought to love him and others. That’s the mind you should have when reading the bible. Every place you open from Genesis to Revelation you will either see God’s expression of his love towards us or how God expects you to express your love to Him and to other people.

God’s love leads us to salvation

The Lord Jesus Christ said that, “God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 GNB)

If our executed Middle Eastern brother had seen God’s love leading him to deliverance and forgiveness of sin besides counting the number of chapters, verses, etc., he probably would have escaped execution. God does not take pleasure in the death of a sinner, he wants us all to be of a sound mind, healthy, and prosperous, and contributing to society positively.

When you recognize His love from the Bible and reciprocate by faith in His son Jesus Christ, He will surprise you with the multitude of His loving kindness.

Be blessed.

The Blood of Jesus: At Golgotha

October 29, 2009

AT GOLGOTHA

And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull. (Mar 15:22)

The episode of purchasing all that we need for life and godliness with the Blood of Jesus reached the apex as Christ finally arrived at the place of the skull. Even the name indicates that at this place you do not return alive. Besides that, one spectacular and irreversible incidence was about to be accomplished. The demonstration that started in the Garden of Gethsemane, located east of Jerusalem was about to end in the garden also located east of Jerusalem.

Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulcher, wherein was never man yet laid. (John 19:41 KJV)

Therefore, Jesus made a complete circle beginning at Gethsemane, through to the high priests council, then to Pilate’s Palace, then to Herod’s Lodge, back to Pilate, and from Pilate to the Praetorium, then to Calvary. That means that whatever Jesus was about to accomplish at Calvary would be eternal and complete. Actually, for the reader that appreciates biblical mathematics, the seventh place Jesus went to in the circle was the sepulcher. Seven is the number that stands for divine completion and perfection. Wow! It is indeed finished. (John 19:30 KJV)

Let us begin to unveil the sacred events at Golgotha by first unveiling what happened on the way.

ON THE WAY

And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross. (Matthew 27:32 KJV)

On the way to Golgotha, the met a man, Simon a Jewish native of Cyrene in Libya now called Tripoli who was on his way to Jerusalem to keep the Passover feast. When he met the angry mob, they roman soldiers compelled him to carry the cross on behalf of Jesus Christ.

The bearing of Christ’s cross is probably the most important message of his ministry for without it no one can be numbered among the disciples of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23 KJV). The event therefore, was scheduled to demonstrate the right way of worship.

Firstly, he demonstrates that he is the Passover lamb.

Secondly, he redirects Simon three hundred and sixty degrees to the new location of the altar for the Passover lamb. The author of the book of Hebrews says, “Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach” (Hebrews 13:13 KJV). The camp for worshiping God has relocated from Jerusalem to any place where anybody will worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23).

Thirdly, he teaches Simon the new and perfect way to keep the Passover feast, that is, by self-denial. The Apostle Paul amplifies the meaning of self-denial by the following verses:

Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
(1 Corinthians 5:7-8 KJV)

and also by

And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. (Galatians 5:24 KJV)

Dear reader, what we need for life and godliness cannot be attained if not preceded by self-denial. Jesus himself is our perfect example. The Hebrew writer attests to this in the following quotation: “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”. (Hebrews 12:2 KJV)

The trade mission of Christ with his blood will only be enjoyed by those who will carry their cross.

Be Blessed.

Understanding the Power of Confessions

October 28, 2009

What are Confessions?

Confessions or affirmations in this study means statements you read or say to yourself taken from the Holy Bible consisting of those things that you desire to improve or change about your life or your community. An equivalent word is a Greek word homologeō which is a derivative of two words: homo and logos. Homo means the same as and logos means the said word of God. Therefore to confess is to say the same thing that God has said about any situation in life.

An example of a confession could be, “By his wounds I am healed.”(1 Peter 2:24 GNB). This confession is made by those who desire divine healing or those who want to stay divinely healthy.

Confessions do make natural laws

Confessions have the power to make laws the govern nature. In the example above we quoted a somewhat common confession, “By his wounds I am healed.” This confession when repeated daily soon becomes a law of nature for you and those you have confessed it upon. What I mean is that even when there is an outbreak of a deadly disease it will not have an effect on you. By the words from your mouth you are able to course your life into your desired destines only.

The Apostle James said, “The tongue is a fire; setting on fire the course of nature.” (James 3:6) You can start setting up laws that you and everything in the universe will obey by the correct use of your speech today.

How to confess

Confessions will be more effective when designed in the following ways:
i. Personalize your confessions. Use the words “I” and “My” and never use your name or “you” when constructing confession statements.
ii. Be Positive. Say, “I am healed” and NOT “I am not sick”. Although “I am not sick” carries the same meaning as “I am healed”, it is a very ineffective confession.
iii. Use words that you can visualize. By saying “I am healed” you also picture yourself standing upright, shoulders high, etc. I mean you see a posture of a healthy person. Visualization words reinforce your confessions.
iv. Use the present tense. Say, “I am healed” and not “I will be healed”. The past tense does not create the laws of nature. All confessions that Christ made were in the present tense. “I am the good shepherd”, “I am the resurrection”, etc.
v. Be enthusiastic. The bible says the fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. So also is a fervent heartfelt confession, it creates laws that you will unconscious follow faster than never.

What are Universal Laws?

Universal laws are decrees or confessions that the Almighty God made when creating the universe. For example the book of Job declares that God made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder (Job 28:26 KJVR). Furthermore, God spoke the course for planet Mars, Jupiter, the Earth, etc. You too have been given the same power to initiate and change the course of nature to fulfill your dreams.

Be Blessed.

Woman: Know thyself

October 27, 2009

Most women do not know themselves and lamentably the men too are ignorant of their counterparts. Women in some parts of the world especially Africa and the East are considered as second class citizens but in the beginning of creation it was not so.

Who a woman is from God’s perspective

From scripture we realize that a woman was made as a help meet for man. However, the original language translation seems to portray a slightly different picture. The word translated Help in Hebrew is the word עזר ‛êzer pronounced ay’-zer which literary means to surround. Furthermore, the pharse translated “meet for him” is the Hebrew word נגד neged pronounced neh’-ghed which literary means a front.. Hence the correct translation was supposed to read “ It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a protector (surround front, i.e. wall or hedge). (Genesis 2:18 KJVR)

Therefore, a woman from God’s perspective is a protector of man. Doesn’t it make sense that God took a rib and made a woman out of it? Ribs protect the most delicate organs in all living things.

Why Satan tempted Eve instead of Adam

Again this notion has been misinterpreted by many bible scholars. Many feel that Satan chose Eve because women are weak. That is absolutely not true. A woman as we have alluded to is a hedge for a man. It is not possible to break into a person’s home without first breaking through the hedge. Satan targeted Eve because the devil was unable to get to Adam but through Eve. Therefore, we read in the Bible that Eve was tempted first.

The Bible is also clear about this. It is written that, “whoever breaks a hedge, a snake shall bite him.” (Ecclesiastes 10:8 MKJV)

I would also like you to notice that Eve resisted Satan for some time. She engaged the devil in a debate before desire overtook her. But for Adam there was no resistance. He took the fruit and ate it with no hesitation. The snake bit him with no resistance because the wall had been broken down.

Why women have a sixth sense

You might have heard that women have a female trait called the sixth sense. A sixth sense is a supposed special ability to perceive something not using any of the five senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. A woman’s sixth sense keeps us safe. It is like a little alarm bell that rings in women. Although they cannot pinpoint why it’s ringing it creates an awareness that keeps us safe.

One day my wife and I were walking back home when my wife noticed armed robbers ahead of us trying to hijack a females car. Had it not been for her I would have walked straight into the fracas and only God knows what would have happened to me.

A city without walls

I believe that if women where allowed and supported by men to fulfil their roles as protectors of the universe this world would be a better place. Making women second class citizens has not helped us at all. We are like a city with broken walls where anybody can at any time spy through without resistance.

Wisdom says, “The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and as a high wall in his own mind.” (Proverbs 18:11 MKJV)

Men how do you expect to be rich and of sound mind when your walls are broken down and trampled upon?

Wisdom further declares that, “He who has no rule over his own spirit is like a broken down city without a wall.” (Proverbs 25:28 MKJV)

A man who does not recognize the role of woman will fail to rule even himself.

Be Blessed.

How Big is your God?

October 26, 2009

Some aeroplanes are massive yet they look as small as toy planes when viewed from the distant skies. A Boeing 737 Classic for example has a seating capacity of 168 (1-class, dense) and 159 (1-class, standard) with a length 36.5 meters but appears so small when seen in the air. In the same way, the further you are away from the big God the more insignificant he appears to be and the less faith you have in Him. Resultantly, the manifestation of his power is greatly obscured.

The fact is that God is bigger than our comprehension and there is nothing that he cannot do; for with God all things are possible. He created the universe within 7 days, divided the red sea with the blast of his nostrils, made a virgin conceive, and resurrected brutally crucified Jesus from the dead.

How to make your God big for you

The bible says, “Come near to God, and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners! Purify your hearts, you hypocrites!” (James 4:8 GNB). God’s bigness will be evident as you come near to Him by washing your hands and purifying your heart. Your hands represent your deeds and your heart your motives. Sometimes people’s deeds are good but their motives are wrong. Yet for others their motives are right but their deeds wrong.

An example of good deeds but wrong motives from the bible

Here I quote from Philippians chapter 1 verse 15-18 (GNB);

“Some of them preach Christ because they are jealous and quarrelsome, but others from genuine good will. These do so from love, because they know that God has given me the work of defending the gospel. The others do not proclaim Christ sincerely, but from a spirit of selfish ambition; —just so Christ is preached in every way possible, whether from wrong or right motives.”

Here the Apostle Paul talks about people who where preaching the gospel and souls where being transformed yet their motives were very ill. Paul says whether by right or wrong motives Christ is preached anyway, yet God does not reveal his greatness big in such cases.

An example of right motives but wrong deeds from the bible

“Abram’s wife Sarai had not borne him any children. But she had an Egyptian slave woman named Hagar, and so she said to Abram, “The LORD has kept me from having children. Why don’t you sleep with my slave? Perhaps she can have a child for me.” Abram agreed with what Sarai said.” (Genesis 16:1-2 GNB)

Here Sarai the wife to Abram had right motives, that is, to bear a son for Abram in whom the promise should be. Yet her actions were wrong; for the son of the servant-woman could not have a part in the heritage with the son of the free woman according to Galatians 4:30 (BBE).

Benefits of having the right motives and good deeds

Just like someone flying in a Boeing 737 Classic enjoys the benefits of the air host services, when you live right and your deeds are good, your God will command the heavenly host of angels to serve you. They will ensure that you have perfect peace, divine healing, divine prosperity, and divine protection, to mention but a few and accordingly you will realise that your God is very Big.

The Blood of Jesus: What it purchased for you in Gethsemane

October 25, 2009

The awesome episode of transacting with the blood of Jesus Christ begins in the Garden of Gethsemane. Gethsemane is a Greek word meaning an oil press. Olive Oil pressing is a lucrative and vast business in the east. All the olive oil sold throughout the whole world has its source from the eastern countries. Hence, Gethsemane is a picture of vast manufacturing industry.

Beloved, it is in this money spinning business that Christ first went into and deposited a place for us. All blood washed believers have an exemption certificate from the effects of world economic recession. Christians have a choice to be self-employed or hired in gainful employment.

The author of Luke’s gospel reveals how the Lord Jesus Christ provided the blood deposit for our gainful employment. He says, “Jesus being in an agony prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground (Luke 22:44). He paid though the blood in his sweat from his face canceling every spoken or written ordinance against your employment. The written ordinance of Genesis chapter three was the first to be nullified. It says, “cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life” (Genesis 3:17 KJV). Then all spoken and written ordinances against your present and future employment has been cancelled.

Dear beloved, do not allow yourself to be retrenched from your employment. Cancel all the evil plans, sorceries, spell, and enchantments of all wicked perpetrators using the blood of Jesus in the name of Jesus.

No wonder, the apostle Paul wrote by the revelation of the Holy Spirit that, “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich”. (2 Corinthians 8:9 KJV)

Therefore, occupy that position that Christ has paid for you in that lucrative business.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Spiritual Weapons of Warfare

October 23, 2009

I recently undertook a study on Spiritual Weapons of Warfare and I realized that the World Wide Web has got insufficient articles on the subject and that among the ones available most are quiet inaccurate.
This subject is the most hated by Satan and his cohorts because demons hate torment. I have not known what scares Satan to death apart from being tormented by the Blood of Christ and the Fire of the Holy Ghost. While Jesus Christ was on earth devils hated his presence because they hated torment. Read this:

“And when He had come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, two demon-possessed ones met Him, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one might pass by that way. And behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with You, Jesus, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”
(Matthew 8:28-29 MKJV)

To successfully overcome your opponent in any game you got to study and understand your opponent’s weakness. Hence having a good understanding of the Spiritual weapons and amour of Warfare will enable you to place the devils where the belong-trapped under your feet.

Before we study the weapons of warfare I would like you to notice before hand that there is a difference between weapons of warfare and the full armour of God.

What are the Spiritual weapons of our warfare?

A weapon is any instrument of offense; anything used or designed to be used in destroying or annoying an enemy. The weapons of rude nations are clubs, stones and bows and arrows. Modern weapons of war are swords, muskets, pistols, cannon and the alike.

The bible says that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds, that is that our weapons do not consist of either rude nation’s weaponry of modern nation’s weaponry. (2 Corinthians 10:4 KJVR)

Our enemies, Satan and his cohorts are spiritual; we can neither feel them nor see them. Hence our weapons ought to be spiritual and the battle spiritual also.

I have identified 7 weapons of warfare in the bible that are readily available for us Christian to use in destroying satanic strategies.

i. The name of Jesus Christ. Read Matthew 28:18-19 and Luke 10:17-18
ii. The word of God. Read Ephesians 6:17 and Revelation 12:11
iii. The blood of Jesus. Read Revelation 12:11 and Revelation 14:10
iv. The Fire and Brimstone of the Holy Ghost. Read Revelation 14:10
v. Fasting and Prayer. Read Mark 9:29
vi. Speaking in other tongues. Read Romans 8:26
vii. Testimonies. Read Revelation 12:11

What is the full armour of God?

Armour consists of protective clothing of metal or leather worn in battle by soldiers in former times.

Again the bible says that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12 KJVR). Therefore our armour cannot consist of metal or leather.

Christian armoury defines a character or state of mind that the devils will find impossible to permeate. The Apostle outlines 6 armours or states of being.

i. Truth. When you keep away lying and maintain truth in your Christianity you will be stable. No amount of rocking will displace you. However if you invite lies the devils will find you an easy target to pervade.
ii. Righteousness. Christ said, “The ruler of this world comes, and he has nothing in me.” (John 14:30 MKJV). Christ lived righteously, and so when the devil came he found nothing to hold against him.
iii. Gospel of peace. The devil fails to seep into peaceful environments. Hence the admonition, “Do everything possible on your part to live in peace with everybody. (Romans 12:18 GNB).”
iv. Faith. By faith the devil cannot deceive you by pointing at the present conditions or facts surrounding you. The just live by faith i.e. we live by the promises of God whether are manifest in our lives or not.
v. Salvation. We get saved by confessing Christ as Lord and believing that God raised him from the dead. You see Apostle Paul refers to salvation as a helmet. That is, it protects us from allowing Satan to infuse wrong doctrines of Christ or other gods. You may have noticed that most people who call themselves Christian but have not accepted him as their personal saviour have a confused concept of salvation. They even refuse to get born again.
vi. The word of God which is the sword of the Spirit. Although Apostle Paul calls the sword of the Spirit as armour, I think it’s more of a weapon than armour.

The bible says that the word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. It cuts all the way through, to where soul and spirit meet, to where joints and marrow come together. It judges the desires and thoughts of the heart.Hebrews 4:12 GNB)

Therefore, with the word of God we can discern all demonic strategies and frustrate them even before they are implemented.

In conclusion, both the weaponry and armoury are very important. Do not take one and leave the other. Hold fast to both and you will enjoy a very victorious Christian life.

To God be the Glory. Amen.

HOW TO MANIFEST YOUR DESIRES INTO REALITY

October 22, 2009

In the last post entitled “Discover your Divine Destiny through 3 easy steps” we concluded by saying that your heart felt Holy Ghost influence desires define your divine destiny. Now it’s vital that we learn how to manifest these desires into reality.

Step 1

Locate scripture from the Bible which backs up your desires. For instance your desire to be a governor of your state can be backed up by the following verses:

And they sang a new song, saying, You are worthy to take the book and to open its seals, for You were slain and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every kindred and tongue and people and nation. And You made us kings and priests to our God, and we will reign over the earth.
(Revelation 5:9-10 MKJV)

And Jehovah shall make you the head, and not the tail. And you shall be always above, and you shall not be beneath, if you listen to the commandments of Jehovah your God, which I command you today, to observe and to do them.
(Deuteronomy 28:13 MKJV)

Step 2

Personalise these scriptures by using “I” and “My” and also use the present tense. Therefore the scriptures you have chosen in the process of manifesting your desires will then be paraphrased like this:

I am a king and priest to my God, and I am reigning over the earth now. (Revelation 5:9-10)

Jehovah has made me the head, and I am above always.(Deuteronomy 28:13)

Step 3

You probably could have heard of the phrase “Confession brings Possession”. Step 3 requires you to confess the scriptures that you have paraphrased every morning immediately you wake up and every night before you go to sleep until you realise the manifestation thereof. Read them out with enthusiasm and be emphatic. You got to be excited about it. Confession without excitement creates nothing.

Step 4

Start taking actions steps. You see, as you confess the word of God, the Holy Spirit will be guiding you towards your desired destiny. Obey the voice of the Holy Spirit and take action steps towards manifesting your desires into reality. You will be amazed how doors of opportunities will begin to fly open before you.

Be Blessed.

DISCOVER YOUR DIVINE DESTINY THROUGH 3 EASY STEPS

October 21, 2009

You have a divine destiny which you will discover today through 3 easy steps.

What is divine destiny?

Everyone was born for a specific influential assignment, which is referred to as divine destiny. Just as we all have unique finger prints so also are we divinely designated to contribute to life uniquely and noticeably. Hence by discovering your divine destiny you will know what you ought to be doing and where you ought to be doing it. For instance, maybe you where created to be a medical doctor. Becoming one is not enough, you also ought to know which branch of medicine to specialize in and which country or city to practice your medicine from. When that is done you will never ever regret having become a medical doctor and you will have a perpetual burning desire to carry out your duties.

In order to discover destiny you will need to ask the one who created you for that purpose. The process of asking and receiving will take you through three easy steps.

1. PURGE YOUR CONSCIENCE WITH THE BLOOD OF CHRIST

Receiving answers from God is not difficult as many have supposed it to be. However, a clouded mind finds it difficult to discern the source of information coming to it, thereby failing to know whether God has answered or not.

What do have to purge from your conscience?

Purge your conscience from dead works of selfishness and fear. Blot out from your mind every selfish generated desire and demonic instituted fear using the blood of Jesus Christ that was poured out on the cross of crucifixion at Calvary. Just say, “I cancel out every selfish desire from my mind with the blood of Jesus and I replace them with thoughts of love. I paralyse the spirit of fear and I disconnect myself from its source by the blood of Christ.”

Also playing instrumental Christian music helps to calm the mind. To be able to discern the voice of God it is necessary that the mind be calm, and the passions all in harmony, under the direction of reason; that reason may be under the influence of the Divine Spirit. Read 2 Kings 3:15 and 1 Samuel 16:23.

2. RIGHT MOTIVES

Apostle James says that you ask and receive not because you ask amiss. There is only one correct motive when endeavouring to discover your divine destiny-That the name of Jesus Christ will be glorified. Many people don’t know this great secret. Benjamin Carson who successfully separated two Siamese twins who shared a single blood supply to their brains in 1987 glorifies God through his successes. Read Ezekiel 36:20-38. You will discover that financial prosperity, salvation, healing, promotion, and the good things that we are craving for come easily when the name of Christ will be exalted through them.

3. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR DESIRES

When you have the right frame of mind and your motives are to glorify the name of Jesus, you will develop heartfelt desires to do something. Those strong desires define your divine destiny: Because it is God who is the cause of your desires and of your acts, for his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13 BBE)

Be blessed.
