How big is your God?

Some aeroplanes are massive yet they look as small as toy planes when viewed from the distant skies. A Boeing 737 Classic for example has a seating capacity of 168 (1-class, dense) and 159 (1-class, standard) with a length 36.5 meters but appears so small when seen in the sky. In the same way, the further you are away from the big God the more insignificant he appears to be and the less faith you have in Him. Resultantly, the manifestation of his power is greatly obscured.

The fact is that God is bigger than our comprehension and there is nothing that he cannot do; for with God all things are possible. He created the universe within 7 days, divided the red sea with the blast of his nostrils, made a virgin conceive, and resurrected brutally crucified Jesus from the dead.

How to make your God big for you

The bible says, “Come near to God, and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners! Purify your hearts, you hypocrites!” (James 4:8 GNB). God’s bigness will be evident as you come near to Him by washing your hands and purifying your heart. Your hands represent your deeds and your heart your motives. Sometimes people’s deeds are good but their motives are wrong. Yet for others their motives are right but their deeds wrong.

An example of good deeds but wrong motives from the bible

Here I quote from Philippians chapter 1 verse 15-18 (GNB);

“Some of them preach Christ because they are jealous and quarrelsome, but others from genuine good will. These do so from love, because they know that God has given me the work of defending the gospel. The others do not proclaim Christ sincerely, but from a spirit of selfish ambition; —just so Christ is preached in every way possible, whether from wrong or right motives.”

Here the Apostle Paul talks about people who where preaching the gospel and souls where being transformed yet their motives were very ill. Paul says whether by right or wrong motives Christ is preached anyway, yet God does not reveal his greatness big in such cases.

An example of right motives but wrong deeds from the bible

“Abram’s wife Sarai had not borne him any children. But she had an Egyptian slave woman named Hagar, and so she said to Abram, “The LORD has kept me from having children. Why don’t you sleep with my slave? Perhaps she can have a child for me.” Abram agreed with what Sarai said.” (Genesis 16:1-2 GNB)

Here Sarai the wife to Abram had right motives, that is, to bear a son for Abram in whom the promise should be. Yet her actions were wrong; for the son of the servant-woman could not have a part in the heritage with the son of the free woman according to Galatians 4:30 (BBE).

Benefits of having the right motives and good deeds

Just like someone flying in a Boeing 737 Classic enjoys the benefits of the air host services, when you live right and your deeds are good, your God will command the heavenly host of angels to serve you. They will ensure that you have perfect peace, divine healing, divine prosperity, and divine protection, to mention but a few and accordingly you will realise that your God is very Big.
