Were Adam and Eve naked before the fall?

November 15, 2009

The story of the creation of man up to the time of expulsion from the Garden of Eden consists of many hard to comprehend portions that I liken to an anvil were a majority of Bible Scholars have broken their hammers. One such portion of scripture is that which refers to Adam and Eve as being naked both before the fall and after the fall. The question is: Where Adam and Eve really naked before the fall?

God and the Angels are clothed

We know from the bible that both God and the angels are dressed in white garments. When Isaiah saw the LORD, he saw that His skirt filled the temple (Isaiah 6:1). Peter too saw an angel standing before him in bright clothing (Acts 10:30). Actually we know that the heavenly beings are dressed in linen cloth.

Furthermore, we understand from the bible that God created man in his own image and likeness. If Adam resembled God, how then would he have been naked?

Understanding Adam’s nakedness

There 2 naked instances that the bible refers to in Adams case:

1. Where he was naked and not ashamed
2. Where they knew that they were naked and cover themselves with fig tree leaves.

Firstly, none of these instances refers to PHYSICAL nakedness. Secondly, these two instances refer to two different forms of spiritual nakedness.

Spiritual Nakedness Number One

And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. (Genesis 2:25 KJV)

In this verse nakedness means that they were not covered with shame. Compare with the following verse:

For thy violence (SIN) against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee (CLOTHED), and thou shalt be cut off forever (EXPELLED FROM EDEN). (Obadiah 1:10 KJV)

Hence from this scripture we learn that shame also covers. Genesis 2:25 was actually supposed to be written like this:

And they were both naked, the man and his wife: not clothed with shame. (Genesis 2:25)

When you remove the word and, and introduce a colon instead, the meaning is clear because the word not ashamed then becomes a supportive word and not a separate meaning word.

You see it’s like saying, “Matthew was naked: he did not even wear underpants on.” The second part of the sentence is merely adding more meaning to the first part of the sentence.

This carries more meaning to me because at this time Adam had known no sin i.e. he was not guilty.

Spiritual Nakedness Number Two

And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. (Genesis 3:7 KJV)

In this verse they were not covered with righteousness. Compare with the following verses:

I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem. (Job 29:14)

David had the same understanding too.

Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy. (Psalms 132:9)

Isaiah had the same understanding too.

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. (Isaiah 61:10)

Therefore, righteousness that is to stand right with God is clothing. Which means not standing right with God is nakedness. Hence, Jesus Christ put it this way:

If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin. (John 15:22 KJV)

You see, there is always a certain spiritual awareness of things not being right when a righteous person compromising with sin. That’s the explanation for Adam’s awareness of the second nakedness.

Were Adam and Eve naked before the fall? Certainly not! They were clothed in linen woven from durable fabric made from the spun fibers of flax found in the Garden of Eden. People who fail to comprehend this reality are those who had believed that we are apes that evolved. Dear reader, God made as humans beings and it’s an insult to Him to belittle human creation as apes.

Watch out for another post in the near future where I explain what the fig tree means and the leaves that they covered themselves with after sin. Moreover, you might be interested in knowing which sinful act they committed; this too shall be explained soon.

Remain blessed.

Rejoice O ye Barren

November 14, 2009

Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD. (Isaiah 54:1 KJVR)

A research I recently undertook on barren women from the bible made me come up with an amazing conclusion which I would like to share with you. I realized that they all had one thing in common and that is that they were all carriers of the anointed ones.

Sarah wife to Abraham was barren up to the age of 90 years when she conceived Isaac. Rebecca was barren too until Isaac entreated the LORD for her and she conceived twins, Jacob and Esau. Leah also Jacobs spouse was barren for over 7 years before she conceived Reuben.

Notice that to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were the promises made to carry the seed which is Christ the anointed one. Nevertheless their wives were all barren.

Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. (Galatians 3:16 KJVR)

Furthermore, the anointed Samson was born of a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bare not. An angel of God appeared to his wife and assured her that she would conceive, and bear a son; and no razor should come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb. The word Nazarite literary means to be separated, that is to be consecrated or anointed.

Another anointed one born of a barren woman is Prophet Samuel. Samuel’s mother, Hannah, was barren till she vowed a vow, and said, “O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.”

Lastly on my list of barren women that conceive the anointed ones is Elizabeth the mother to John the Baptist. Even Christ said among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist yet his mother was barren before conceiving him.

My first observation as I said earlier is that all these mothers carried anointed seed. Secondly, I also observed that the seed they carried had a role to play in the coming of the Most Anointed One Christ Jesus. John the Baptist revealed Christ, Samuel anointed David the root of Christ, and Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob carried the seed of Christ, whilst Samson is a type of Christ who delivered Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.

A word for the Christian brethren

If there are any symptoms of barrenness in your life confess and forsake your sins. If the symptoms persist after you have confessed your sins please consult a deliverance minister. If that too shows no signs of improvement, it might be a sign that you are a carrier of a special anointing. Anointing carriers are usually called by God for a specific purpose and sometimes all other endeavors may prove futile because of the anointing until you surrender to God’s will for your life and allow the anointing to be birthed first.

The 3 Facets of a Renewed Mind

November 13, 2009

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2 KJVR)

Most of us are single faceted when we contemplate on the above verse. We only consider renewal of the mind from sin consciousness and hence we fail to take advantage of the full benefits of that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

Below are the 3 facets and benefits of a renewed mind:

1. Behold you are a New Creation

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJVR)

Number one; See that you are a new man. The best picture of you should be that of Adam or Eve before the fall. That is perceive yourself as the first of its kind to exist and is perfect without any corruption in it.

Christians with this picture in mind enjoy the benefits of approaching the throne of grace confidently and consequently get answered prayers. They are also as bold as a lion and the devil fails to entrap them by reminding them of their past because as far as they are concerned they do not have a past.

2. Behold you are a king

Jesus has made us kings and priests to God and His Father. (Revelation 1:6 MKJV)

See yourself as a King that is reigning on the earth with Christ being the King of Kings. The bible says that the kingdoms of the world have become the kingdoms of the LORD and His Christ and we are reigning on the earth.

Christians who perceive themselves as kings triumph over the adversary Satan and all the consequences of evil such as poverty and sickness.

3. Behold the just live by faith

Now the just shall live by faith. (Hebrews 10:38 KJVR)

See that the law is binding (Romans 7:2) but faith is liberating.

Christians that live by faith inherit the promises as their father Abraham did: for the promise, that we should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. (Romans 4:13 KJVR)

Lastly, understand that by renewing your mind, you will change your perception, and by changing your perception, you will change your confession, and by changing your confession you will take full advantage of the benefits of that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

The Greatest Mistake I ever made

November 12, 2009

I woke up one morning to pray but I was feeling rather low so I relaxed in the couch as I thought of how to begin my prayers. Whilst in that position I was thinking about when God would bless me because as far as I was concerned I had been following him faithfully for quite some time. Then God interrupted my thoughts and taught me something that changed my life immediately.

The lesson begun by walking me through the bible from Genesis to Revelation and showing me one common characteristic of those He mightily used. The likes of Moses, Jacob, the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ, Apostle Paul and many more all had one common characteristic. These had all served others faithfully before being used mightily by God.

Moses was faithfully tendering his father’s in law sheep when he had an encounter with God that ushered him to greatness. Jacob had served his father in law faithfully for 20 years (Genesis 31:41) before his journey to greatness started where he encountered an angel that changed his name and destiny. James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother were in their father’s ship mending the nets when Jesus called them and changed their destiny to one that I am referring to more than 2 thousand years after. Jesus found Matthew faithfully collecting taxes for the Roman Empire. Apostle Paul had an encounter when he faithfully led an ambush against the Jews that called upon the name of Christ. Even Abraham faithfully served his father Terah and his household before God asked him to leave them to a place that would change the entire history of the world.

And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own? (Luke 16:12 KJVR)

Most of us want God to bless us with ministries but we are not willing to follow God’s set down procedures. God blesses those who are faithful and measures our faithfulness through our service rendered to other people. The service you are rendering does not have to be related to your final calling but has to be faithful service nonetheless. Matthew was a tax collected but he ended up an apostle for example.

The question to ask ourselves is whether we are in employment for the rewards or for service. That is how you are able to screen yourself as to whether you are a faithful employee or not. I realised that I had changed so many jobs in the past because I was in it for the rewards rather than for service.

God will never entrust you with true riches until you faithfully serve another man’s business. In the examples given above most of the service was done to fathers. That implies that when you do service in another man’s business, do it as though you are the next of keen then God will usher you into your true inheritance promised to Abraham and his descendants.

Why some Christians Fail to Overcome Satan

November 11, 2009

All Christians have the power to cast out and to overcome demon spirits in the name of Jesus. And most of us know about the Spiritual Weapons of Warfare and how they are used. The most commonly used weapon is the blood of Jesus and is usually used in reference to Revelation 12:11.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. (Revelation 12:11 KJVR)

However, the “B” part of Revelation 12:11 is widely ignored regardless of its significance in that it is the “B” part that strengthens the “A” part of the verse.

The Holy Spirit revealed through Apostle Paul that in the last days men shall be lovers of themselves rather than lovers of God. Lovers of themselves usually have no power to overcome Satan even if they are in possession of all the spiritual weapons of our warfare.

There are three categories that lovers of themselves fall into:

1. Those that lust after the flesh. E.g. Gluttons
2. Those that lust after the things that they see. E.g. Fashions
3. Those that pursue the pride of life. E.g. fame

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (1 John 2:16 KJVR)

Now don’t get me wrong on the examples I have chosen. I too love being well feed; I love fashion; and I want to be famous. However the lusting after these things that I have listed is ungodly. Let me site an example of a lady I love and respect, Joyce Meyer. She is a fashionable lady indeed but I do not think that she lusts after fashion. She can afford fashion and that makes all the difference. What I am talking about when lust takes the place of Christ. For instance many cannot fast today because food has taken the place of the word of God.

How Adam lost dominion over Satan

Adam and Eve lost dominion over Satan through the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. The bible says,

“And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food , and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” (Genesis 3:6 KJVR)

Here we see things that made Eve partake of the fruit; the same things that lovers of themselves lust for. Consequently, our ancestors lost dominion to Satan until Christ Jesus restored it back to us through the blood sprinkled on the cross at Calvary.

Satan tempted Christ with the love of the world

After Christ had fasted for 40 days Satan tempted Him with the love of the world. Satan knew that Christ is the son of God and hence He had power to overcome him and that for that very reason Christ descended from heaven to the world. Nevertheless Satan attempted to abort the mission through three temptations that lovers of the world fall prey to.

The account is found in Matthew Chapter 4 and verses 1 through 11. In verse 3 Jesus was tempted through the flesh i.e. food. In verse 5 and 6 he was tempted through pride if life i.e. throw thyself and the angels will bear thee up. And lastly in verse 8 he was tempted through the eyes i.e. the promise to offer him the kingdoms of the world.

Had Jesus succumbed to these temptations He would have never been able to overthrow Satan from the King of the World to the Supreme Angel of the Bottomless Pit.

In my conclusion, I urge you to enjoy all things given to us richly by the living God but do not lust after them lest you lose your power over the enemy Satan and his cohorts.

The Heart of Man is God’s Crystal Ball

November 10, 2009

The spirit of man [that factor in human personality which proceeds immediately from God] is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts. (Proverbs 20:27 AMP)

Your heart usually referred to as “the spirit of man” is what God uses to bless your future. In blessing David, He said, “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will (that is, he shall become King of Israel).” (Acts 13:22). Also in Proverbs, wisdom says,” A man’s heart devises his way: but the LORD directs his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)

The Story of how God created a wife for Adam is what I will use to expound on this subject further. In Genesis Chapter 2 verse 18 the LORD thought of making a wife for Adam. But God did not want to give Adam what he was not aware of, further still did not even desire. Therefore, God gave Adam an assignment to name all the animals in the garden: A plan devised at making Adam aware of the fact that all the animals in the Garden of Eden were –

1. Paired i.e. male and female
2. Had Kids
3. The females looked different from the males
4. The females carried the kids
5. The females looked prettier than the males
6. The kids were born through intercourse
7. Etc.

By naming all the animals in the Garden, Adam did not only notice the above listed things but he also developed a desire to be paired and have offspring like the animals. Surely it must have taken a while for Adam to complete the naming assignment. As he was naming the desire grew and the vision of a partner became more and more clear. Actually, Adam fed his spirit or heart with this vision of a partner so much so that he could describe her from head to toe. The picture he developed obviously included the length of the hair, the size of breasts, the hips, etc.

Then God made Adam sleep and searched his inner most being using his spirit. God saw all that Adam had developed and consequently made a woman by carefully following all the details on Adams heart. That is how Eve was made, from Adams vision. No wander Adam was not surprised even when he saw Eve for the first time because he had a copy of her on his heart.

Dear brethren, I have learnt through experience that by desiring something and keeping a very clear vision of it on your heart, God does not take long be for He brings it to pass.

He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him.
(Psalms 145:19 KJVR)

Believe to Receive

November 9, 2009

There is a pattern of faith in the Word of God which if you have the guts to follow will make you soar like an eagle over every area of your life. The pattern follows this order: believe first then receive. Most people want to receive before they believe. Oh no, it does not work like that.

The process of believing is likened to cultivating and sowing whilst receiving is like harvesting. Just like cultivating and sowing takes much longer than harvesting so also believing takes much longer that receiving. Actually, when you have really believed it takes only an instant to receive.

How Abraham believed for Isaac

Abraham was promised a child by God when he was 75 years old, (Genesis 12:4) but he bore the child when he was 100 years old. From 75 years to 99 years Abraham was cultivating and sowing in his belief.

You see, believing makes one righteous. Abraham believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. (Genesis 15:6 KJVR). In other words, believing qualifies you for receiving. When you believe an account is opened for you where what you believe for is deposited.

However, just as a Bank Cheque has to mature before it can be drawn against, your believing too has to mature before you are able to receive. In order for Abraham’s faith to mature God deliberately used two allegories of his descendants that Abraham visualised 24/7. In chapter 13 of Genesis God shows him the dust of the earth and Chapter 15 he shows him the stars of heaven. Hence the picture of the promise was before Abraham day and night until his belief matured.

By meditating and hearing and hearing the word of God you are able to mature your belief in the word of God.

How Abraham received Isaac

When Abrahams belief had fully matured at the age of 99 years God visited Abraham again but this time with a different technique. (Genesis 17:1-5). This time God changes Abraham’s confession.
“Your name shall be no more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee”. (Genesis 17:5).

Notice that Abraham’s confession changed at 99 and at 100 years his wife Sarah bore Isaac. This means that as soon as he started confessing, Sarah became pregnant. Hence, the receiving took place almost immediately.

Now let’s sum up with reference to the following scripture.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10 KJVR)

It takes the heart to believe and the mouth to receive. That is, what you have cultivated and planted in your heart will soon be evidenced through what you speak. And what you speak will soon be evidenced by what receive.

Exposing Satanic attacks “Part 1”

November 8, 2009

The most common allegory for Satan is “The Serpent”. The first reference is found in Genesis 3:1 and the last is Revelation 20:2. Certainly Satan’s character resembles that of a serpent in many ways. However in this article we shall consider only one character and that is that of a PYTHON.

Pythons are best described as constrictors. Constrictor, a term used to describe certain snakes that wrap their coils around and squeeze their prey in order to kill it by suffocation.

How does Satan suffocate Christians?

The bible says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”. (Hosea 4:6 KJV). The Hebrew word translated “destroyed” in this verse literally is, “To be dumb or silent, hence to fail or perish”.

Satan knows that confessing or speaking Christians are winning Christians. Notice that all the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty to the pulling down of strongholds through the use of our mouths. We overcome him by the blood of the lamb and by the speaking of our testimony.

Hence, his against speaking Christians and as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may silence through constriction.

Spirit of Faith

We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak (2 Corinthians 4:13 KJV)

Believing Christians are speaking Christians. We speak what we believe. What do we believe? We believe the entire word of God. The Spirit of Faith is all about speaking the word of God i.e. confessing the scriptures.

When Satan deceives you with symptoms of sickness say out loud, “Christ Jesus was wounded for our transgressions and with his stripes I am healed”. (Isaiah 53:5 KJV)

When he presents you with the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches say, “I know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for my sake he became poor, that I through his poverty might be rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9 KJV)

The word of God is loaded with scriptures that address every situation in life. There is a scripture for overcoming Satan through confessing it over and over again to him until he flees.

Meet you at the top; that’s if you keep confessing the word of God.

Doing the Works of Abraham?

November 7, 2009

Most of us want to partake of Abraham’s blessings but how much are we willing to do the works of Abraham. Christ said if he were Abraham’s children, he would do the works of Abraham (John 8:39)
What are the works of Abraham?

1. Intercession

In the book of Genesis chapter 18 from verse 17 through 33 we read a very interesting story, where God revealed to Abraham His intention to destroy Sodom and Gomorra and all the inhabitants because their sin was very grievous.

Abraham approached God and interceded for the righteous ones living in the two Cities. He pleaded with God that the righteous ones should not perish with the wicked ones. He petitioned God that His is a Judge of all the earth and that He had to act justly. As a result God hearkened to Abraham and saved Lot when He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt. (Genesis 19:29 KJVR)

Another incidence is in Chapter 20 of Genesis when Abimelech took Sarah Abraham’s wife. Consequently, the Lord kept all the women of the house of Abimelech from having children, because of Sarah. However when Abimelech restored Sarah to Abraham, Abraham interceded for Abimelech’s house and healed them.

So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children. For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife. (Genesis 20:17-18 KJVR)

2. Interception

When Abram heard that his nephew (LOT) had been captured, he called together all the fighting men in his camp, 318 in all, and pursued the four kings all the way to Dan. (Genesis 14:14 GNB)

Again Lot was caught in the midst of trouble. This time he is found in the midst of a battle between The Kings of Sodom and Gomorrah and four other kings. The four kings defeated the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah and possessed their goods and the people including Lot. When Abraham heard it he armed his trained servants and intercepted the four kings. Abraham won the battle and rescued Lot and all the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah.

3. Intervention

Intervention means to become involved in a situation. Now what I mean here is, to involve yourself for the benefit of others, acting like the United Nations. This means possessing a selfless attitude.

When Abraham was called by God, the instruction was for him to leave his country, his kindred, and his father’s house, to a land that God would show him. (Genesis 12:1). However, Abraham selflessly invited Lot and others with him to be partakers of the promised blessings. He knew by faith that God would lead him to a better place than that his nephew Lot and the others he invited where leaving in. He intervened in their affairs.

Abraham as a King

The works of Abraham depict a picture of a king who intercedes on behalf of his people to God, who intercepts all satanic attacks aimed at his people, and who intervenes when his people are needy.

Only a king who loves his people will intercede, intercept, and intervene in his people’s matters. Remember Christ has made us kings and priests. (Revelation 1:5-6). By being a king as Abraham was will unlock the windows of heaven and pour a blessing upon you without measure.

School of Spiritual Warfare

November 6, 2009

Why Christians should be taught Spiritual Warfare

Spiritual Warfare is a subject that has been discussed by some Christian sects especially those whose ministries are centred on delivering people from satanic bondages. However, it is an under taught subject matter.

From the book of Judges Chapter 3 verse 1 and 2, we see that there was a mandate for all the generations of Israel to know and be taught war.

Now these are the nations that the Lord left, to test Israel by them, that is, all in Israel who had not experienced all the wars in Canaan. It was only in order that the generations of the people of Israel might know war, to teach war to those who had not known it before. (Judges 3:1-2 NIV)

From the above passage there are 4 things to take note of:

1. The LORD did not conquer all the nations.
2. He deliberately left some nations to be conquered by those who had no war experience.
3. Those who had no war experience had to be taught war.
4. The remaining nations were living in the Promised Land.

Shadows in the Old Testament

The Old Testament was a shadow of things to be revealed in the future through Jesus Christ. In the conquest against heathen nations we see a two stage development. The first, God conquers most of the nations, the second, God expects Israel to conquer the remaining nations.

The reality through Jesus Christ is exactly the same. Christ has triumphed and stripped rulers and authorities (satanic dominions) making a show of them publicly, triumphing over them on the cross at Calvary. (Colossians 2:15). This is the first stage in the conquest against Satan.

Let me explain a bit further of what Christ did.

1. He overthrew Satan, hence the kingdoms of the world have become the kingdoms of the LORD and his Christ and we are reigning on earth now (Revelation 11:15)
2. He declared the previous laws null and void (Colossians 2:14) hence leaving the previous landlords without an empowering law.

However, Christ did not drive them out of the land for us. The second stage of the conquest has been left for us to drive out Satan from the land he is occupying illegally. The bible says that the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. (Romans 16:20). It also says that God has subjected all things under the feet of Christ, and that He did not leave anything not subjected to Him. But now we do not see all things having been subjected to him. (Hebrews 2:8)

These things that are left are our responsibility; to put Satan under our feet. That is to crush all the powers of Satan and his cohorts. Actually, we are to make Satan and his cohorts obey Christ.

Satan is occupying your destiny

Did you know that everyone created by God has a divine destiny to pursue? However, Satan is occupying that vocation. Unless you marshal him off, he will always occupy your throne.

Hence, everyone that calls upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ should be taught and should experience Spiritual Warfare.
